Beijing Launches "Power of Tech Innovation" Unit in "Beijing Vibe" Short Video Contest

The "Power of Tech Innovation" unit of the "Beijing Vibe" Short Video Contest was recently launched in Beijing. Closely aligned with the growing needs of the city's International Science and Technology Innovation Center, the unit uses short-form video as a medium to explore the driving forces of original innovation from multiple perspectives, showcasing the capital's vibrant creative energy.

To enhance content and engagement, the contest introduced a "Beijing Tech + Culture" recommendation map, featuring key innovation landmarks, research institutes, and cutting-edge enterprises across the city. The program also integrates with major cultural events such as the Beijing International Film Festival, Beijing Book Fair, and International Museum Day, creating a cross-sector synergy and immersive experience where technology and culture meet.

Residents from all walks of life are invited to pick up their cameras and film the "tech-savvy Beijing" through their own lenses, capturing the real-life scenes and compelling stories unfolding on the front lines of technological innovation.

Take Beijing's E-Town Robot World, for example. A futuristic atmosphere greets visitors at every turn. From high-precision industrial operations to everyday household services, multiple types of robots work together efficiently and flexibly — making technology no longer a distant concept, but a tangible, accessible reality.

Since its launch in May 2025, the "Beijing Vibe" contest has rolled out three thematic units. Through their lenses, creators have captured the renewed charm of the ancient capital, witnessed the contemporary expression of its millennia-old cultural heritage, framed the youthful energy and openness that embody the capital's global character, and reflected the warm, everyday life of local communities. Operating on online platforms and actively engaging a wide range of participants, the contest continues to explore new pathways for popular culture in the digital age.

To date, the contest has gathered nearly 400,000 submissions, driven related topics to over 14 billion views, and generated nearly 54 billion yuan in online and offline consumption. As a phenomenon-level campaign that blends short videos with nationwide interaction, "Beijing Vibe" has played a positive role in advancing systemic media transformation, shaping the city's image, spreading positive energy online, and fostering integrated development across culture, tourism, sports, and exhibitions — steadily establishing itself as a shining hallmark in the construction of Beijing as a national cultural center.
